This tool converts measurements between the units commonly used in print production: millimetres, centimetres, inches, points, and pixels. It supports DPI-aware pixel conversions so you can translate between screen and print dimensions accurately.
Print specifications arrive in different units depending on the designer, the RIP software, or the regional convention. A single conversion mistake can result in documents being printed at the wrong physical size, so having a reliable converter saves time and avoids costly errors.
A typographic point is 1/72 of an inch. It is the standard unit for font sizes, leading, and many PDF internal measurements. Points provide a consistent reference regardless of screen resolution.
Pixels have no inherent physical size. DPI (dots per inch) defines how many pixels fit into one inch of printed material. A 300-pixel-wide image at 300 DPI prints at one inch, but at 72 DPI it would print at over four inches.
A4 is 210 × 297 mm (595 × 842 pt), US Letter is 8.5 × 11 in (612 × 792 pt), and A3 is 297 × 420 mm. These are the most frequently requested sizes in commercial printing.
Divide the pixel count by the DPI. For example, 2400 pixels at 300 DPI equals 8 inches. This tool handles that calculation for you when you select pixels as the source unit and enter the DPI.
DPI refers to printed dots per inch and is used in print workflows. PPI (pixels per inch) refers to screen display density. For print work, DPI is the relevant measurement when converting pixel dimensions to physical sizes.
