This tool measures the bleed area on each side of every page by comparing the TrimBox to the MediaBox or BleedBox. It reports the exact bleed amount in millimetres and flags sides where the bleed is below the standard 3 mm or 0.125 inch threshold.
Insufficient bleed means the printer cannot trim the piece cleanly without risking visible white slivers along the edges. Getting the bleed right before sending avoids reprints and ensures a professional finish with full-bleed artwork extending to the trim.
Bleed is the area of your artwork that extends beyond the final trim edge. It ensures that when the printed piece is cut to size, there are no unprinted white edges showing due to minor trimming variations.
Most commercial printers require at least 3 mm (0.125 inches) on all sides. Some request 5 mm for large-format work. Always check your specific printer's guidelines to be sure.
Without a TrimBox, the tool cannot determine where the intended trim edge is and will report that the bleed cannot be calculated. You may need to add a TrimBox using a PDF editor before rechecking.
No. This tool measures whether the bleed area exists geometrically. It does not analyse pixel content, so it cannot tell you whether your artwork actually fills the bleed zone on each side.
Bleed extends artwork beyond the trim edge. Margin (or safe zone) is the distance from the trim edge inward to where critical content should stay. Both serve different purposes and must be managed separately.
